Dear Friends in The Tribal Art World,
I am heading off to New York for my annual visit and exhibition of my recent acquisitions. I always enjoy seeing my old and new friends, collectors and dealers, scholars and art aficionados. I also enjoy showing off the treasures that I have been able to acquire recently. The economy’s sad loss has certainly been my grabby gain lately. (I am representing several families with old collections; call me if I can help you with your collection. I am placing a lot of pieces.)
I was sad when I heard that the annual Armory show was cancelled this year, but then happy and honored to be suddenly invited by my old friend Howie Nowes to ship out my art collection (note the bottom photo below) and exhibit/show/sell in his little gem of a gallery. Damn the Recession and full speed ahead.
Please come by Howard Nowes’s gallery, Art for Eternity, and see me and three other colleagues and the fine tribal art we are showing. You’ll be amazed at the action. Great collections were built in times of economic worry; opportunities abound. We’ll be showing art of Africa, Oceania, and the Pre-Columbian Americas, and you’ll discover artworks freshly out of old collections on the West Coast, East Coast, and central Europe.
Best Regards, Dave DeRoche
