287. Fang Figure Small sized Fang guardian figure carved of darkly stained hardwood, standing with stylized hands clasped at belly. Legs and support leg are covered by well worn, burlap textured fetish cloth. Rounded head bears brass tack eyes, squared coiffure exposing domed forehead and c shaped ears and several beaded strands around neck and waist. Tip of right foot reattached, else exc.9-1/2”H.Private Illinois collection.

John Perry Cabinet

John Perry is recognized as one of New Zealand’s leading authorities on ethnographica, social history, folk art and plenty else besides. John has held senior roles as a director of a public museum to his world famous in New Zealand Helensville emporium Global Village Antiques. A+O is delighted to be able to offer a selection from his vast collection as a ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’. These are in the main rare and unusual smaller gems of folk art, NZ ceramics, photography, Pacificana, artefacts, Oriental pieces and the hard to explain. This will be a catalogue and auction to remember.
